I started playing drums at age 14 and  have studied drums with various instructors in and around the greater Cleveland area and beyond!   Because of my love of education I have developed and am now offering various educational programs for drum set, snare drum, mallets, tympani, dumbek, piano and music theory.   I have also developed programs geared towards getting students ready for and supporting school band programs.  I teach both in person and online private, class and group instruction.   

I have played drums with various jazz and rock musicians and groups during my career.  I have also played percussion in a local civic band and was the drummer/percussionist for the local production of Gary Trudeau’s (Doonesbury creator) musical comedy Rap Master Ronnie.  I have had and continue to have the opportunity to do some recording work around the Cleveland area.  I am also a composer.  I have written and recorded many of my own compositions as well as both writing and recording music for different applications such as video games, loops and sample packets.

 

I have earned a Professional Certificate in Keyboard Skills and a Specialist Certificate in Music Theory and Counterpoint from the Berklee College of Music Online program as well as an Associates of Arts Degree from Lakeland Community College where I studied both drums and percussion with Mr. Hank Avellone.  I have also earned a Creative Chord Style Piano Teacher Certificate from Houston Enterprises.   I am a member of the SABIAN Educational Network, National Association of Rudimental Drummers, United States Association of Rudimental Drummers and I am a Professional Member of the Percussive Arts Society.  I am also a member of the National Association for Music Education and the Ohio Music Educators Association.  I continue to  study music theory, harmony and counterpoint as well as Northern and Southern Indian music theory, rhythms and tabla drumming. I also studied drumming with Dom Famularo and continue to study drumming, when I have time, with Mr. Claus Hessler.
